Main duties of the job
The Clinical Skills Technician will work within a team and be responsible for the daily organisation and technical support of the Clinical Simulation and Skills Centres, specifically, setting up rooms and equipment for sessions, maintaining equipment and assisting in the delivery, evaluation, monitoring and quality control of teaching and learning provision. The role holder will be part of a team that provides a highly efficient technician support service to internal and external stakeholders by ensuring that equipment and resources are appropriately utilised, prepared, organised and maintained within relevant skills and simulation areas. The Clinical Skills Technician will prepare and facilitate equipment requests, provide support in the appropriate use of equipment, assist in the preparation of teaching and learning materials and ensure compliance with relevant processes and procedures across the various sites.

This is an exciting opportunity for 2 enthusiastic individuals to join our Clinical Skills and Simulation Technician Team, with significant development and growth unfolding in the area of health and wellbeing. The University is expanding its facilities and sites, with the continued development of our new Health and Wellbeing Severn Campus, including our newly opened Elizabeth Casson Building and the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Building. We also provide clinical skills technician support for the healthcare courses in Dudley.
This role will be full time, with a flexi-time scheme in operation.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
* In collaboration with other Clinical Skills Technicians, work as part of a team to effectively organise, co-ordinate and plan the daily skills and simulation activity across the University campuses.
* Proficiently prepare the equipment and simulation suites in accordance with timetabling information and teaching requirements.
* Undertake administration processes to ensure efficient organisation of the Technician Service and the activity across the University campuses.
* Ensure that equipment is cleaned and stored in a tidy manner and that regular maintenance of equipment is carried out.
* Manage stock levels including maintenance of a comprehensive stock and equipment database, as well as tracking servicing and repair of equipment.
* Maintain tidiness and cleanliness of the Simulation and Clinical Skills Centres in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
* Assist in orientating students and academic staff to the simulation and clinical skills areas and the equipment.
* Support and facilitate drop-in sessions as part of the SPACE project to help students to practice their clinical skills.
* Provide administrative support to both staff and students as per individual course requirements.
* Assist in the recording and editing of simulated training activities on audio visual equipment.
* Maintain effective scheduling of the teaching rooms in the Clinical Simulation and Skills Centres.
* Work without direct supervision, exercise initiative, and take responsibility for projects.
* Uphold customer service standards in the Simulation and Clinical Skills Centres.
* Attend and professionally participate in meetings, open days, development sessions and working groups as appropriate.
* Contribute to the development of the service including reviewing processes and making recommendations for change.
* Ability to work flexibly across a staggered shift pattern as required.
* Current full UK driving license to drive a manual vehicle between university campuses.

Person Specification
Skills
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written).

Experience
* Experience of working within a clinical or simulated learning environment.
Qualifications
* Educated to A Level standard or equivalent or to have relevant work experience.
* Current full UK driving license to drive a manual vehicle.
Desirable
* Understanding of COSHH regulations and risk assessment.
* Certification with either the Society for Simulation in Healthcare or the Association of Simulated Practice in Healthcare.
