Test and Commissioning Engineer (ECS Card is essential)
Automation/Manufacturing & Engineering background only, no IT.
£350 per day or £400 per day (If accommodation required) (Outside IR35).
Initial 3-6 month contract (Monday to Friday 0700 - 1700).
Test Manager Responsibilities
The Test Manager ensures the technical delivery of automated systems meets Dematic's “as sold” requirements. This includes planning and conducting on-site testing, validating system performance, and securing customer approval. Collaboration with System Integration Managers, commissioning engineers, and client representatives is key to resolving issues and meeting testing objectives.
Key Duties:
1. Testing & Validation
Develop and execute test plans (e.g., Site Acceptance Tests, Performance Tests).
Ensure systems meet specifications and align with customer needs.
Validate safety systems, material flow, and communication between PLC and WMS/WCS.
2. Issue Management
Track and resolve issues using tools like Jira.
Coordinate re-testing and confirm defect fixes.
3. Volume Testing
Perform stress testing to identify system bottlenecks.
4. Coordination & Reporting
Provide updates to the Lead SIM and Project Manager.
Supply data for reports and dashboards.
5. Client Engagement
Act as the main contact for customer testing requirements.
Build strong relationships through clear communication.
6. Software Oversight
Oversee WCS and PLC testing during automation processes.
Skills & Experience:
1. Strong expertise in automation systems (e.g., conveyors, cranes, TMS, shuttles).
2. Familiar with PLC, SCADA, and system messaging validation.
3. Electrical and mechanical system knowledge (qualifications would be advantageous).
4. Proven commissioning and testing experience in automation or material handling.
5. Proficient in volume/stress testing and identifying system issues.
6. WCS/WMS experience, including data analysis (e.g., SAP WMS).
7. Previous roles as a Test Manager or Commissioning Engineer in automation/material handling.
8. Proficient in Excel for data verification and reporting.
9. Safety-focused, with CSCS/ECS cards for on-site work.
Qualifications:
1. ECS card required for site work (ECS in relation to the function of a System Integration Manager or Test Manager is essential).
2. Adherence to safety protocols (hard hats, boots, etc.).
