The Role:
The Head of Marketing and Business Development will take ownership of developing and executing the overall marketing and business development strategy. You will drive brand building, customer acquisition, lifecycle marketing, and strategic partnerships that fuel sustainable growth. Working closely with internal teams and external agencies, you will lead efforts to increase customer engagement, deliver a strong ROI, and develop long-term business relationships that unlock new revenue streams.
This role is ideal for a leader with experience in fast-paced, start-up environments, with a particular focus on organic social media marketing, customer growth, partnership management, and a passion for pets.
What will you do?
* Marketing Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement short- and long-term marketing strategies that drive business growth, enhancing brand awareness, customer acquisition, and retention. Lead marketing initiatives across the customer lifecycle, including performance marketing, organic social media, and CRM strategies. Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to execute marketing plans, ensuring campaigns are on brand, on time, and within budget. Ensure marketing efforts are data-driven, utilising key performance indicators such as Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), and ROI to guide strategies.
* Brand Building & Storytelling: Craft a compelling brand narrative that resonates with pet owners, using innovative campaigns to strengthen brand awareness and customer loyalty. Spearhead organic social media and community engagement strategies across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, increasing brand visibility and customer interaction.
* Performance & ROI: Implement a test-and-learn approach to marketing activities, fostering continuous improvement and innovation. Analyse the commercial success of all marketing efforts, ensuring an efficient ROI to power business growth. Take accountability for the overall marketing budget, including forecasting and periodic reporting to track and assess performance.
* Business Development & Partnerships: Identify and pursue strategic business development opportunities that drive partnerships with key stakeholders in the pet, insurance, and tech ecosystems. Build and nurture relationships with industry partners, including veterinarians, pet service providers, e-commerce platforms, and pet retailers. Develop and implement a B2B sales strategy, promoting partnerships through affiliate marketing, joint ventures, and cross-promotional activities. Lead negotiations and secure collaborations that expand the distribution of insurance products and increase brand presence across new channels. Evaluate potential markets and revenue streams, researching trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning within the pet insurance industry.
* Market & Customer Insight: Stay ahead of trends in the pet insurance market, ensuring that our strategies align with evolving customer needs and behaviours. Leverage data and customer insights to continuously refine marketing and business development strategies, ensuring relevance in a competitive market.
* Leadership & Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and inspire both the marketing and business development teams, fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and results-driven performance. Drive cross-functional collaboration between marketing, product, technology, and customer service teams to ensure consistent execution of business goals.
