Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Dry Gas Seals Team reporting to the Lead Engineer for Gas Seals. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be developing innovative solutions to customer-specific applications that go beyond the standard dry gas seal product range, supporting Right First Time (RFT) activities by troubleshooting non-conforming seal designs by analyzing data and the cosmetic appearance of the Dry Gas Seal. This role is based from our headquarters within Slough, working Monday to Friday during normal office hours (Hybrid working).
Duties & Responsibilities
(not limited to)
1. Perform specific development programs for customer-driven Dry Gas Sealing applications, which includes but is not limited to:
1. Develop plans
2. Test specifications
3. Design generation
4. Qualification testing
5. Report generation
2. Provide technical input and guidance to projects with respect to the design, performance, procurement, manufacturing, and testing of Dry Gas Sealing products for turbomachinery equipment.
3. Deliver detailed technical presentations to customers to support sales and training initiatives.
4. Prepare correspondence and technical engineering reports in connection with the projects.
5. Use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to produce 3D models/assemblies to analyze product performance (i.e., finite element analysis).
6. Support RFT activities by troubleshooting problems related to product performance or production difficulties.
7. Monitor tests to validate actual results with those from theoretical analysis.
8. Upskill knowledge on topics related to assigned projects.
The Individual
Knowledge of CAD, 3D modeling & 2D drawing ideally within rotating equipment, FEA skills, creativity, vision, and problem solving. Ability to work hands-on, collaborate within the team, and provide feedback to stakeholders. Capable of self-managing projects to ensure on-time delivery.
