Wood is recruiting for Overhead Lines Site Engineers to join its Wood Transmission & Distribution Ltd entity focusing on supporting foremen, line workers, and subcontractors in the construction of overhead lines sites, while ensuring compliance with contract drawings and regular coordination with the design department. As a Site Engineer, you will establish level and survey control for contracts and set out detailed works as per contract drawings. You will liaise with the design department, ensuring stringent checks are made regularly. This is an excellent opportunity to join our growing team at Wood, this role is site based primarily in the Scottish central belt with long term project sites based in Argyll and Bute supporting our client SSE. Other project sites may be located in Scotland’s northeast and northwest regions. This opportunity is a site-based position, and you will need to be flexible in your work location as you will be away from home for periods of time. LI-Onsite The Role Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, you will oversee the site management team coordination of foremen, linesmen, and sub-contractors while liaising with clients and third parties, and manage the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL). You will be contributing to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government's pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero. Assist the Site Manager in checking staff competencies, and managing onboarding and site inductions Technical Solutions Delivery: ensure technical solutions are delivered on-site in line with Wood’s Engineering department requirements and management systems. Understand and interpret engineering processes and designs for construction Technical and Resource Support: support the Site Construction Manager with technical and resource input for developing target costs Resource Planning: plan and coordinate resources (plant, materials, labour) and liaise with Procurement for material requirements Cost Control: control costs and monitor the financial status of your project responsibilities Documentation and Reporting: assist in producing Method Statements, Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, and provide information for Contract Status Reports Quality Assurance: collect and collate QA documentation for final records Health and Safety Management: oversee day-to-day health and safety matters for staff and sub-contractors, report safety incidents and near misses Project Change Control: provide timely information to support project change control Compliance: ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001:1999, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 14001:2004 standards Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Expected: Demonstrated industry experience in a similar role Possess a recognised Safety Qualification (such as IOSH or NEBOSH) Experience in site supervision of Overhead Line contracts, in particular on steel tower construction at the higher voltages (circa 132kV and above) Previous experience in the management of sub-contractors and the recording of measurement details to enable financial settlement Experience in the supervision of all technical aspects of line construction in a site environment Experience of various types of foundation construction utilised in transmission projects and should be conversant with setting out instruments and technique Must be willing to work away from home for prolonged periods of time Join us in our efforts towards a sustainable future.
