We are looking for a positive, pro-active and reliable person to join our growing practice. In this essential front-line role at the practice, receptionists play a vital role in helping patients to access the right services, assisting with keeping health records accurate and up-to-date and ensuring that appointment bookings are well-managed.
This position is for 22 hours worked over 4 days per week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (morning shifts are 7:30am -1pm and afternoon shifts are 1pm - 6:30pm). We operate during enhanced hours until 8pm on Mondays and 1pm-5pm on Saturdays. Some degree of flexibility is required as occasionally you will be required to work additional or alternative hours to cover colleagues. General Practice is a challenging environment that requires a calm and caring approach with the ability to work under pressure.
Main duties of the job
* Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or over the telephone and email.
* Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
* Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

Qualifications
* English and Maths GCSE or equivalent.
Experience
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
* Confident working as part of a team and independently.
* An understanding of GDPR and confidentiality.
* Presentable and approachable to both staff and patients.
* Self-motivated.
* Flexible and able to adapt.
* Experience working with the clinical system 'SystmOne' would be advantageous.
