Good Afternoon,
I am currently representing Merton Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate of £20 which is negotiable dependent upon experience.
We are looking for a Brightwell Care Officer for the role located at: SM4 5LT.
The right candidate will:
1. Meet the care and recreation needs of children with disabilities who are provided with short breaks, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment is maintained.
2. Carry out high quality written and photographic observations, planning and assessments, identifying next steps for children's and young people's development. Ensure folders are kept up to date and regular reports are written to ensure effective communication with colleagues and parents.
3. Administer medication safely, implement health-care plans, and understand the importance of obtaining consent; and know in what circumstances to contact those with parental responsibility.
4. Work as a link worker for an agreed number of children who are in receipt of short breaks, liaising with the family to support the safe care of the young person, ensuring access to a broad, balanced, relevant, and differentiated short breaks programme.
5. Take responsibility for the planning and preparation of the playrooms and outside areas, using observation of children/young people and evaluation of the provision to ensure all play/recreation areas fully enhance children's/YP learning and interests and are effectively risk assessed.
We require the following:
1. Staff must hold a relevant qualification at level 3 and a good standard of education, for example, GCSE, with good written, spoken, and communication skills.
2. Experience of direct working, planning, and delivering a range of activities and opportunities that provide a stimulating environment for children and young people with SEN, disabilities, and complex needs across a wide age range.
3. Experience of working in partnership with parents/families to improve outcomes for children/young people.
4. Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce.
5. Paediatric First Aid (in accordance with Ofsted regulation).
6. Experience of supervising, training, and supporting staff or volunteers.
7. Experience of leading a shift and directing staff.
8. Ability to lead on programme activity planning and run a shift in accordance with protocol and policies.
9. Excellent knowledge of the range of disabilities and special education needs of children and young people and the ability to plan and support a diverse group of children aged 6 - 18.
