Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust
This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in educating the pharmacists of the future.
We are looking for a dedicated, dynamic and enthusiastic pharmacist, with an interest in education and training. You will support the development of undergraduate pharmacists and the provision of clinical pharmacy services within the hospital. You'll develop your skills clinically and in the all-important areas of leadership, communication and mentoring, which very few other band 7 pharmacist roles allow you to do.
The post will support the expansion of clinical placements for pharmacy students from the University of Manchester, as well as forming an integral part of the pharmacy team and the wider MDT, working together to provide high quality care to our patients.
You will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital, South Manchester but will need to be able work at other MFT sites on occasion. The balance of teaching and clinical work is dependent on service need and future placement provision. As part of this role, you will take up an honorary appointment with the Division of Pharmacy and Optometry at the University of Manchester.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside the Clinical Tutor team and academic staff at the University of Manchester to provide hospital placements to all four years of the MPharm programme. This includes reviewing and updating the MPharm curriculum in line with new GPhC guidance. This is mostly done as hospital-based placements with real patients, where you will deliver experiential style teaching.
Within the pharmacy department you will support the delivery of a patient focused clinical pharmacy service, in addition to participating in the department's weekend working, on-call and late-night rotas.
You will be actively involved in developing and delivering the Education and Training strategy of the MFT pharmacy department including supporting our trainee and rotational pharmacists.
You will be actively involved in undertaking audit and practice research to further develop clinical teaching and support pharmacy undergraduate students with their research projects.
