Job Purpose
To drive performance improvement across the Wastewater System (Ww Treatment, Infrastructure & Non-Infrastructure) across a set geographical area. To work with the County System Performance Manager, Treatment Delivery Manager and Network Delivery Manager to embed ways of working, producing plans to improve new capabilities including monitoring, control and where appropriate automation.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* To drive an integrated and intelligent approach to planning & performance within county.
* Embed the use of situational awareness techniques through the use of multiple datasets, analytics and visualisation tools. Encourage the development and use of signature and asset health monitoring for understanding performance trends and deviations across the E2E system, building on the Dynamic Network Management capability where available.
* Responsible for making decisions to enable effective operation within budget. The utilisation and deployment of resources within the asset group to meet operational needs and Company priorities.
* Responsible for the delivery of the financial targets set for their operational area, although System Performance Managers will be required to adhere to their own operational budget. Where decisions will have an impact on standards or costs to other parts of the business, they will be the subject of discussion with other business managers and the county senior leadership team.
* Champion a system performance team collaborative approach which is mutually beneficial to all managers within the specified area.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong leadership and communications skills essential to motivate, performance manage and develop a large team of people to achieve their best performance.
* High levels of managerial ability needed to ensure the delivery of financial plans, key performance targets and regulatory compliance.
* Developed analytical skills and an ability to identify, develop and implement solutions to a wide range of financial, technical and managerial problems.
* Good long and short term planning ability to manage wastewater assets day to day as well as longer term.
* Experience working in the Water or Utilities industry is preferred.
* If a candidate has worked in the Water industry, we are looking for someone with a high level of understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding wastewater operations.
Qualifications
* Experienced professional with a proven track record.
* A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Membership of a professional institution (CIWEM or IWO) would help someone in the role.
* Any wastewater technical knowledge would be useful to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance is achieved.
