Head of Purchasing/Category Management
Location: Staffordshire - Full-Time, On-Site
Package: £120,000 - £150,000 plus car allowance and bonus schemes
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Purchasing/Category Management to lead and optimise purchasing strategies aligned with our business objectives. You will play a key role in driving cost improvements, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development & Integration: Lead the creation and global integration of category strategies, ensuring they align with business operations.
Relationship & Business Integration: Build and maintain long-term stakeholder relationships to enhance business capabilities and performance.
People Leadership: Develop and manage a high-performing category team with a cross-functional mindset.
Business Management & Coordination: Leverage cross-functional category knowledge to identify and exploit business opportunities.Skills & Knowledge Required:
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
Proven experience in change management and influencing senior stakeholders
Conflict resolution and results-driven mindset
Comprehensive knowledge in category & supplier management, cost and pricing strategies, and contract management
Financial acumen and performance management skillsExperience & Qualifications:
Proven success in purchasing within an engineering and production environment
Experience leading multi-disciplinary and virtual teams in a global matrix organisation
Strong relationship-building skills with senior stakeholders
Engineering or program management background preferred
Graduate-level education (CIPS qualification preferred)
