Assistant / Sales Manager, Catering (Reactive) - InterContinental Singapore
This position is accountable for soliciting, booking and servicing Social, Non-Residential and Offsite segment booking business through both an established base of key accounts, key prospects as well as other new accounts.
To anticipate and exceed guests' expectation and needs in planning and executing each event while ensuring the best return value for the hotel.
Additionally, this position is active in the execution of the departmental marketing plan through the participation in both the planning and hosting the sales activities outlined below.
Responsibilities include:
1. Ensure all IHG Catering standards are adhered to for all event activity.
2. Solicit business through execution of actions outlined in the departmental marketing plan as well as solicitation practices.
3. Solicit existing & new account base to generate additional bookings.
4. Source for venues to engage hotel as official caterer and actively promote these venues to our guests.
5. Create packages to help promote awareness in order to gain more market share.
6. Prompt response (within 24 hours) to all forms of inquiries in an effort to capture additional market share.
7. Solicit from and confirm with clients all information pertaining to the event they are planning and to organize information for accurate handover to Service Manager once the account goes definite.
8. Negotiate prices, prepare accurate quotes and then confirm by written contracts.
9. Compulsory site inspection on venues for events including back & front of the venues.
10. Upon turnover of a booking, coordinate and follow up with Chef, Stewarding & Banquet and other departments to ensure smooth delivery of hotel’s promised services.
11. Organize and disseminate information to all departments through e-mails, memos, banquet event orders in a professional and timely manner.
12. Liaise with Chef for developing and revising menus and overall costing.
13. Collect 1st Deposit after signed contract. Adhere to schedule listed in contract.
14. Actively compile competitive intelligence information.
15. Initiate billing procedures, ensuring client credibility and that deposit and/or credit applications are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame.
What we need from you:
1. High School Diploma or Hospitality Management Degree.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel catering & planning or related F&B industry.
3. Excellent Customer Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Results-Oriented & Highly Motivated.
4. Independent and able to make good decisions.
5. Proven ability to plan & execute events effectively with a strong attention to detail.
6. Good understanding of all hotel departments, particularly accounts, stewarding, banquet & kitchen.
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Meeting Matrix, Opera PMS program and Delphi.
