One of my local government clients are currently recruiting an experienced Communications Officer on a temporary basis. This is a 3-month minimum contract with the possibility of the role being extended further to work Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Hybrid working role were, however, you will be required to attend the office 2/3 times a week. Overview: To support the development and delivery of the council’s Communication Strategy. To support the development and delivery of key organisational messages and campaigns for external and internal audiences, embedding digital communications in everything we do. To ensure the use of the council’s corporate identity and ensure correct use by all council staff and partners. To offer support to all services in the council to ensure excellent standards for all campaigns and communications. To take complex messages and translate them into readable and engaging copy and ensure consistency and accuracy of messages. To support the delivery of a high standard, comprehensive and integrated media management service including the efficient distribution of council media releases and, where appropriate, press conferences and briefings. To use research and knowledge about resident profiles and needs, in order to focus messages and information for differing audiences using a range of channels. To support the development and maintenance of standards, procedures, protocols, performance indicators and ways of evaluating and measuring communications, marketing activity and media liaison. To support the potential for income generation including sponsorship for council campaigns and events, promotion and co-ordination of filming locations and identifying new opportunities. To keep up to date with changes and developments which affect the council and by implication, affect its communications. Support the team in crisis/emergency and high profile communications. Some evening and weekend working may be required Deputise for Managers Responsibilities: Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate marketing and communication plans and activity Proven project management and organisational skills. Creative flair and ability to translate business needs into high impact campaigns and communication programmes. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across a wide range of contacts. Ability to work under pressure, determine priorities and progress a variety of tasks.
