Job: Geospatial Data Manager
Salary: £47,754 - £51,802
Hours: 36.25 (part time / flexible options would be considered)
Contract: 2 Years Temporary Fixed-Term
Your role:
This role is a completely new role in a completely new team within GMCA Research. We are setting up a new Data sub-team, and this role is one of the first in that new team. So it's definitely one that you can make your own!
* There are three areas of work we want you to take responsibility for:
o Managing the MappingGM platform - MappingGM is a well-used website that hosts, shares and visualises geospatial data about Greater Manchester. We want you to take control of the platform, manage the data uploads, help create new interactive maps for the organisation, and ensure the site is running smoothly and meeting user needs.
o Leading on geospatial data management and use - GMCA has access to a lot of geospatial data, and we want to make better use of it. This means better storage, better analysis, better visualisation. You'll be leading that activity within Research and working with other directorates on this too.
o Relationship building - we work with many partners who provide us with geospatial data. You will be responsible for maintaining and growing these relationships to get access to, and improve, good geospatial data.
The Research team in GMCA supports policy teams with the data, information and insight that they want and need. We're a high performing team in a high performing organisation, and our work is used to make the cases, understand the issues, and deliver the best outcomes for the people and businesses of Greater Manchester.
About you:
* We are looking for someone with a background in using and managing geospatial data, and able to identify mapping solutions for user needs.
* You will be able to work closely with different teams to develop maps and update the MappingGM website.
* You will have an analytical mind, and a big picture perspective - considering how different projects and needs might all work together.
* Check out the role profile for a full list of essential skills, behaviours, knowledge and experience that we are looking for.
About your application:
* Your application is your chance to let us know why you are the person for this role.
* Look through all of the essential skills, behaviours, knowledge and experience in the role profile. Think about how you fit these requirements, and let us know in your application form how you would meet these.
* The final element of the application is your opportunity to tell us more relevant information - why are you right for the job, and why is the job right for you?

This role is part of GMCA’s hybrid working scheme.
