To work in collaboration with other team members to clean and maintain the Trafford Centre. You are responsible for the day-to-day cleaning of specifically agreed areas to the required standards. Delivering deep cleaning, maintenance cleaning and scheduled cleaning of the external areas within the Centres perimeter. You will be expected to operate a large variety of cleaning and waste equipment and machines (after training) including compactors, balers and vehicular machinery and present a professional, friendly image at all times. You will have the ability to work both individually and within a team. You will be capable of carrying out your duties without constant supervision and be proactive in ensuring your area of responsibility meets the highest possible standards of cleanliness and safety. You should have excellent attention to detail, high standards and a desire to do your job to the best of your abilities. Key Responsibilities The role includes a variety of tasks including the following: You develop close working relationships with supervision to fully understand the needs of the business. You support Centre Management in driving best practice with all aspects of the job role. You work closely with all the operational teams to ensure the best standards are adhered to. You promote our operational focus on compliance, communication, consistency and collaboration in all you deliver. You are an ambassador for the centre and for environmental services. Ensuring that you deliver consistently high standards of customer service at all times, thereby promoting a professional and welcoming atmosphere through your exemplary behaviour. Behaviour and culture: To always follow all the departmental procedures and schedules correctly. When you are on shift you represent the Trafford Centre. Your conduct should be always beyond criticism and courteous in your relations and communications. Your services are to be fair, efficient, and always honest. At all times make that extra effort to present a smart personal appearance. To comply with all health and safety procedures for the department including, COSHH, PPE, clinical waste and sharps policy. To communicate and liaise with team leaders and colleagues to ensure a smooth running of the department. Attending in-house and external training relevant to your role Be aware of your responsibilities and adhere to all company’s safety guidelines including wearing of all personal protective equipment. Ensure good knowledge of all facilities and processes to deal with customer’s queries, complaints and compliments in line with company procedure Undertake any further duties or any other reasonable task requested by a member of the supervisory/management team. Cleaning Duties To ensure that all areas of responsibility are cleaned to the required standards and that all machinery is well maintained. Use of various machines in accordance with requirements including compactors, balers, jetwash, walkbehind and sit and ride scrubber dryers, vehicular machinery, rotary scrubber, etc Sorting waste into appropriate containers, to transport waste from collection points, separate and compact appropriately whilst adhering to the centres recycling policy. Removing cardboard and other items for recycling. Ensure the safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps as per policy. Perform deep cleaning, maintenance cleaning and scheduled cleaning in a variety of areas delivering a variety of tasks to the required standard, including but not limited to Cleaning of all public accessible external areas and entrances. Cleaning corridors and back of house areas. Cleaning bin rooms, external service yards, compactor and baler areas. Cleaning public toilets (both male and female). To sweep the car parks, paths, main entrances and all of the external walkways. To litter pick all the landscaped and surrounding areas. To clear snow/ice to allow for access to all areas as necessary. Cleaning stairs, stairwells, ramps, lifts and escalators. Cleaning of external entrances, perimeters and walkways. To ensure that all graffiti is removed immediately. To move any furniture/equipment and displays for events functions and meetings. General To ensure that all check sheets for machinery are used correctly. To ensure the safe operation of machinery using the operators guide and wear protective clothing/footwear at all times. To actively promote the centre’s recycling policy with our retailers To report any maintenance defects, deficiencies or repairs required relating to the building and its fixtures and fittings. Complete proactive cleaning inspection and patrols Compliance with all work-related health and safety regulations always. Taking care of own and others health and safety. Maintaining safe working practices in line with HASAWA. Keep a good standard of personal appearance. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Person specification: Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours Confident/friendly disposition. Positive and approachable manner. Good organisational skills Self-motivated with ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision Good communication skills both verbal and written Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes. Flexible/supportive team player Essential 1 to 3 years’ proven experience working as a cleaner or grounds maintenance. Knowledge of external maintenance and cleaning regimes. Fully valid UK Driving Licence Desirable: Cleaning related qualifications such as BICS Experience of using vehicular and mechanical cleaning equipment RTITB FLT license Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to cleaning, COSHH, Manual Handling, PPE etc. Excellent customer care skills Hours 40 per week. Salary £26,728 per annum.
