Job Description
Key Responsibilities of the Transport Manager:
* Manage a large, modern fleet for a high value retail contract.
* Oversee transport operations for a 1.5 million square foot distribution centre.
* Ensure high standards of service and efficiency.
* Ensure O'Licence compliance in all areas of operation.
* Provide a high level of accuracy in all information presented.
* Manage and work closely with an existing team.
* Oversee all aspects of maintenance, ensuring the vehicles are compliant and well presented.
* Carry out driver training where required.
* Focus on ensuring we retain our high levels of service to customers.
* Communicate with staff and customers.
* Develop and implement transportation strategies and policies to optimise efficiency and reduce costs.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
* Valid O' License.
* Proven experience of managing large transport fleets.
* A confident and skilled communicator up to senior management level.
* A general mechanical understanding of fleet vehicles.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Transport Manager should have:
* An educational background in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
* Experience in transport management within the Transport & Distribution industry.
* Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards.
* Excellent leadership and team management skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and customer service skills.
* Daily commute to Swindon.
