Band 3 Children's Health Care Support Worker
An opportunity has arisen for a band 3 Healthcare Support Worker to join the team on Sophie's Place, caring for children and young people in both our outpatients department and acute assessment ward. If you are looking for a new challenge, we are interested in hearing from you! This is an opportunity to work with children with a range of medical and surgical needs and to learn new clinical skills.
Main Duties of the Job
Sophie's Place is a children's day assessment ward and outpatients service at Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (Winchester site), seeing children and young people of all ages. Within this varied role, you will work alongside the registered nursing staff to ensure that high-quality care is delivered to the children and their families. Excellent communication skills with children and young people are key to successfully engaging with them to assess their care needs. The role will be varied, with opportunities to learn many additional skills such as performing blood tests and lung function testing on children. We will provide you with the opportunities and support to develop further skills that will enable you to extend and enhance the role.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent or above in Health or Health and Social Care or working towards or NVQ child care/NEEB/City & Guilds
* Basic understanding of normal child development
Experience & Knowledge
* One year's experience working with children and the general public.
* Previous experience in a Health/Health Social Care role
* Previous NHS experience
Skills & Ability
* Able to work without direct supervision.
* IT literate
