As a CMM Programmer, you will be responsible for the effective programming and operation of a range of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), ensuring that the required quality standards are achieved, maintained, and improved where possible, ensuring high standards are met to satisfy operational and customer deadlines. What you’ll be doing Read, interpret and understand 2D drawings and 3D Models from a range of customers and industries. Determine the programming requirements based on the drawing and engineering requirements, with specific focus on understanding Geometrics, Dimensions and Tolerances (G,D &T). Offline programming of multiple CMM machines, working to meet demand. Utilise a range of mechanical inspection tools (e.g. shadowgraphs, microhites, Aberlink, and micrometres) to verify product. Assist in identifying and utilising the most effective and efficient method of inspecting and verifying machined components. Suggest and assist in improvements, corrective actions and preventative measures. Ensure quality system procedures are being adhered to at all times. Ensure 5S principles are applied and high standards are sustained. Ensure documentation is accurate and maintained to a high standard Provide training and guidance where required to other members of the team Help develop methods and processes to ensure continuous improvement within the department. Provide flexibility in line with business requirements Carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected. Who we’re looking for We ask that you are a time served apprentice, or you possess either the equivalent NVQ / BTEC qualification in an engineering discipline, or an HNC in engineering discipline or five years minimum service in a similar role. With knowledge of production, processes and systems, you will have experience with the operation and programming of co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) such as Camio and/or Modus is desirable. Polyworks experience is advantageous but not essential. We ask that you must understand first principal measurement techniques allowing for method verification and experience of working in the nuclear (civil and defence), MOD and aerospace sectors.
