The Role As a key member of the Sofina Foods team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and welfare of our commercial breeding herd while optimizing production. Key Accountabilities Organise the unit’s daily routines in accordance with the procedure manual including feeding, bedding and day to day care of livestock. Adopt new initiatives and implement new plans and instructions. Organise and plan staff holidays and weekend working, and, by liaising with the area manager, ensure staff cover at all times. Maintenance of bio security in order to protect the health of the herd. Ensure all husbandry duties are carried out. Implement and manage all vaccination/medication programmes on the unit. Monitor the health of the animals in your care. Responsible for ensuring the unit has an adequate supply of feed, straw and AI on a weekly basis, as well as a well maintained and effective water system on the farm. Ensure that the Unit is kept in good order, to ensure that the maintenance standards set out by the company are achieved including routine maintenance on site and fence repairs. Skills And Experience Required Previous experience working with livestock is desirable.
