Strategy & Regulation are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. This role provides strategic, policy and technical support to the business for the management and assessment of groundwater assets and associated catchments and linked outcomes. Groundwater assets provide nearly a quarter of Yorkshire water's total water production. There is significant development occurring in AMP8 to provide new sources, repair existing sources, manage demands from regulators and undertake catchment management. There is a need to further develop and maintain policies for groundwater assets. In addition, the company expert role is growing with more advice required by Planners, Service Delivery, Engineering Reliability, Asset Planning and other teams. Where you fit in: As our Technical Specialist you will Work with colleagues and external partners to successfully deliver the strategic plan and technical operational support for groundwater resources and quality. Support management (to programme, budget and quality) of the groundwater components of the AMP programme Develop a strong industry wide network, leading and influencing discussions with colleagues from other water companies, suppliers, and regulators / stakeholders where appropriate Production or updating of design guidance, asset operation guides, asset maintenance guides and tasks / frequencies (with support from ER), asset investigation procedures (planned and reactive) and asset investment profiles includes review/QA of technical documents and contribute to/author YW reports. Act as company expert, expert client, and single point of accountability for development and continual improvement of asset plans for groundwater assets. Support the asset operator for the relevant assets, ensuring those assets can achieve our requirements and that maintenance plans for them are clearly understood. What skills & qualifications you will need: Postgraduate degree in hydrogeology or closely related subject. Knowledge of the use of geographical information systems (GIS) Knowledge of use and operation of groundwater assets for public water supply Experience of working on projects to deliver new or updated groundwater supplies. Working towards chartered membership of appropriate professional body (Geological society of London). You will also benefit from having: Technical skills in groundwater asset survey Understanding of legislation related to management and operation of groundwater assets for public water supply.
