Job Summary
Oversee the education and training for the nursing staff within the urgent and emergency division with a focus on care of the deteriorating patient and resuscitation within the emergency department and clinical assessment unit. The post holder will be ALS and level 2 ANTC trained with previous experience working at band 7 level within an emergency department.
* Work one day per week in the clinical numbers in the resuscitation areas within the emergency department.
* Work with junior staff to develop resuscitation skills within the ED and CAU.
* Work closely with ED band 7's to maintain a suitable resuscitation environment.
* Foster a learning environment within the departmental areas, ensuring staff are provided with opportunities to develop and update their clinical expertise in the care of all patients.
* Provide clinical and theoretical support to registered nurses in the clinical setting.
* Support multidisciplinary staff development of specific clinical skills within the practice environment.
* Assist in the development and review of protocols and guidelines for nursing practice.
* Undertake assessment of individuals in practice in accordance with agreed competency framework.
Main Duties of the Job
* Spend a minimum of 50% time in clinical practice across the division teaching and supporting junior staff, assessing clinical skills, running coaching bays.
* Support the quality, safety and education matron to implement the Trust and UEC resuscitation educational strategy into the UEC division.
* Work with other educators across the Trust to support delivery of Trust education strategy.
* Develop UEC nursing competencies to ensure a skilled workforce able to provide high quality care and patient experience for patients requiring resuscitation.
* Teach and assess nursing resuscitation competencies for clinical skills.
* Act as a role model and educational resource for all staff.
* Maintain a highly visible presence in the clinical area.

Person SpecificationExperience
* Essential: Registered Nurse, Previous experience at band 7, Practice supervisor/assessor.
* Desirable: Post grad cert in professional education, Level 7 course, Evidence of teaching in clinical setting and classroom.

* Essential: Level 2 acute experience, Previous experience at band 7.
