Job Title: Carer (must be able to drive)
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)
Hours: 8 hours per week (mainly weekends – shifts to be discussed at interview stage)
Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.50
Based at: Great Barr, Birmingham.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this Job is to support a teenage boy (12 years old) with autism, ADHD and dyspraxia. The child lives at home with his Mum and sister. The purpose is to build a professional relationship with the child, support him to become more independent and to support his daily needs. The teenage boy loves trampolining and has a keen interest in dinosaurs, World War 1 and 2. He can have challenging behaviour at times, and it is very hyperactive. The young boy is extremely intelligent. The successful candidate must be caring, work on their own initiative and must be a driver. It is also desirable that the successful candidate has experience in working with children with autism and ADHD.
To support with:
- Engaging with the teenage and taking part in activities he enjoys e.g. going to the trampoline park, playing on his trampoline with him, playing with his dinosaurs with him etc.
- Constant supervision is required at all times.
- Support with all safety aspects.
- Assisting with medication (on occasion)
- To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys.
- To support him with independence
- To be supportive, encouraging and engaging.
- Transporting him to his chosen activites.
- To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

• Be patient and supportive.
• Willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
• Have an understanding of the child and their needs.
• To have a driving license and have access to their own car.
• Have a bubbly and outgoing personality.
• Flexible with the hours you can work.
• To be able to work on your own initiative and be aware of risks.
• Preferrable to have training in manual handling, medication training and have an awareness of autism and epilepsy.
