Toshiba Europe Ltd have been at the forefront of R&D in quantum technology, particularly quantum communications and quantum key distribution (QKD) for the past two decades. During this time they have made many breakthroughs, such as record high quantum communication bit rates, operation over international-length-scale fibres and classical-quantum network integration. This progress has hinged on innovations across many domains including optics, quantum, electronics, computer science and software engineering, in order to develop new quantum systems. Recently, Toshiba launched a new business unit to commercialise R&D outcomes and Toshiba QKD systems are now deployed in telecommunication networks across the world. We invite applications for a Quantum Systems Research Engineer position at the Cambridge Research Laboratory, with the opportunity to play a leading role in the design and development of next-generation quantum communication technologies. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and lead the integration of electronic, firmware and software solutions into complete prototype systems, as well as contributing to the development of these components. Outcomes will include the demonstration of new quantum technologies, which will be published in leading academic journals and presented at international conferences, as well as supporting Toshiba’s QKD product development.
