Why we need you:
Reporting to the Plant Quality Manager, this role supports our global supplier quality vision and strategy for MSA with a primary focus on customer quality concern resolution.
The QE will work with Customer Services, Marketing, Global Supply Chain Sourcing, Operations, and other internal functions. The focus will be on customer concern resolution and countermeasures along with day-to-day operations support.
These strategies will ensure MSA’s ability to meet our customers’ evolving expectations. The role holder will follow global standards, processes and tools to ensure the consistent quality of MSA products throughout their lifecycle, including enabling effective resolution of inquiries related to customer concerns with regards to Quality and Delivery.
What you will do - the role:
Customer Quality Resolution
* Run global CQN reports to find complaints relating to Latchways products raised by other MSA plants.
* Raise and manage CQN/IQN’s to resolution in SAP IQOS.
* Review customer concerns sent in from the sales and CS teams.
* Report new CQN’s in daily huddles.
* Arrange and host CQN investigations for all OOB complaints with relevant departments.
* Review customer returns of in-field product failures (strip down and check components to and work closely with engineering to improve product design).
* Arrange return of customer products after inspection.
Data Analysis / Presentation
* Analyse CQN data to look for trends & identify key focus areas for improvements.
* Collaborate with MSA Global IRG counterparts across our regions.
* Create presentation slides and present CQN performance to the SLT monthly.
* Create presentation slides to present to the plant manager on OOB performance and improvements weekly.
* Attend monthly IRG fall protection reviews and feedback any improvement activity.
Continuous Improvement
* Work on continuous improvement projects and teams (VA/VE, Kaizen, VSM).
* Lead Problem Solving meetings with other Departments.
* Raise RFEA’s to drive change, product improvements and process improvements throughout the business.
* Create QIS sheets for toolbox talks for MSA Latchways associates.
* Perform weekly line Gemba’s on iAuditor.
* Carry out internal systems audits (ISO9001 style).
* Support external Supplier auditing.
Operations Support
* Perform inspection and final sign off of all Wingrip orders (Production & Despatch).
* Lead the WFT process for warehouse including root cause analysis and Countermeasures.
* Support other members of the Quality team as required.
* Identify and perform containment actions in the warehouse.
* Manage the calibration register to keep all items & devices within calibration date.
* Support / cover other members of the Quality Team as required.
* Support finished goods over inspection / safe launch programs.
What you need:
Experience (Required):
* Minimum 2 years within a Quality function focused on suppliers.
* Able to read engineering drawings and understand and disseminate engineering information to the supply base.
* Good written & oral English (daily contact with other MSA sites).
* Knowledge and experience with Lean and problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa Diagrams, Poka Yoke, FMEA, Kaizen, 6s, SPC & Six Sigma.
Experience Preferred:
* Experienced internal auditor.
* Experience in a global/manufacturing multi-site organization.
* Mechanical competencies.
* Experience with industrial products.
Education Required:
* Higher National Diploma in an Engineering / Quality discipline.
Education Preferred:
* Lead Auditor.
* Degree in an Engineering / Quality discipline.
* Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
