SEMH Teaching Assistant
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience in working with children and/or adults who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs.
The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting students’ mental health and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment.
The TA will be working closely with staff and students in order to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may have.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
3. Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
4. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
1. Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
2. Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
4. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
5. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
School staff will be working term time, from 08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday. Both part-time and full-time applicants are welcome to apply.
All applicants will be subject to DBS checks and safeguarding children training.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
