An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Emergency Planning Shared Service, a shared service between 2 local councils.
You will be part of a network of competent professionals and expected to work across both shared service partners.
We are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Resilience Officer, who will work as part of a team to ensure both Councils fulfil their responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act and associated guidance documents. This role is a key role within the team to ensure the Councils Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response arrangements are in place and maintained to a high standard.
The role involves a diverse range of responsibilities to develop and enhance our resilience and emergency preparedness. You will develop and enhance emergency response and business continuity plans, you will work with staff, managers and partners to enhance and embed awareness of these arrangements and the council’s readiness to respond to a variety of incidents. You will also provide specialist advice and guidance to those who have a role in incident response.
A strong background and experience of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity arrangements is required as is membership of a relevant professional body.
Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues. It is important that the post holder is able to prioritise their workload and have the ability to recognise the importance of meeting deadlines.
The postholder is required to be part of a 24/7 on call duty rota to provide advice, guidance and support to both councils in the event of an incident occurring.
