Role Summary
Are you passionate about people and looking to start a career in healthcare? Or maybe you have some healthcare experience and are keen to join an innovative and dynamic NHS Trust that's really going places? Join us as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW), get paid while you learn and develop your career with the Royal Devon.
We are recruiting Senior HCSWs to be part of our Community Paediatric and Neurodisability service team. More details about the team can be found below.
Every day, you will make a huge difference to the lives of the people we care for, delivering a high standard of care alongside your colleagues. Providing personal care, promoting nutritional needs, and assisting in the recovery and recuperation of patients on their journey to better health are just some aspects of this essential role.
About the Role
Our Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) form an essential and well-respected part of our healthcare teams across a number of dynamic settings; out in the community, in our acute hospitals or within our theatres teams to name just a few.
You will quickly become a valued member of the team through our comprehensive training and induction programme and our commitment to learning and development will satisfy even the most ambitious person. Once you've completed your training, and gained the necessary experience you will progress along the salary scale.
The team - The Community Paediatric and Neurodisability service provides assessment and support for children and young people who have, or are suspected of having, a range of developmental and neurodevelopmental conditions. This role seeks to enhance the offer we have for young people undergoing a neurodevelopmental assessment for conditions including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).
This role will include the following:
* The post holder will provide support to the multi-disciplinary team completing assessment as part of our school-age neurodevelopmental assessment pathway.
* The post-holder will assist with information gathering in order to support the neurodevelopmental assessment pathway.
* The post holder will be responsible for organising and delivering the QB clinic. A QB test is a computer based test that combines attention and impulse control measurements with activity recordings collected by an infra-red camera. The results are compared with a group of children/young people of the same age and gender, who do not have ADHD. As part of an overall assessment, QB test results provide valuable objective information to help determine if a child or young person has ADHD or not.
* This role will also include signposting support to young people and families whilst they are awaiting further assessment.
* The work will take place in conjunction with or under the supervision of a range of professionals to ensure the most appropriate care & support is delivered to young people and families.
* Work will primarily take place at RDUH Wonford but travel to other localities may be required.
Our teams are caring, compassionate and inclusive, so whatever your background, you will be made to feel very welcome. More information about the role, training and development and the experiences of our HCSWs is included in the attached document. Read it now and find out for yourself why we are regularly voted as one of the best NHS Trusts to work for.
Working Pattern: We care for our patients around the clock so we will need you to work a range of shift patterns. These range from short shifts, day shifts between 8am and 8pm and 12.5-hour day and night shifts with an hour break in the ward areas. Please do check this at your interview.
Depending on your shift pattern and working hours, you may also receive additional enhancements to your pay.
