We are looking for an enthusiastic counsellor with a passion for working with students. You will deliver student-centred, short term, focussed counselling to students, supporting them to navigate distress, life stressors, and emotional experiences that may impact their ability to achieve their potential through 1:1 counselling and group work.
Individual counselling is core to the work of the service, and an ability to effectively manage a substantial caseload is a key requirement. A significant part of the role involves the provision of assessment appointments (counselling consultations).
You will contribute to the delivery of a range of psychoeducation workshops and the development of self-help resources available to all students. The counselling team sits within the wider wellbeing service, and the role will work positively with other colleagues in the service, making good teamworking skills essential to this role.
You will be predominantly based at the Counselling Centre located on University Park but may be asked to work at other locations on University Park and our other Nottingham campuses.
You will need to be fully trained in counselling to diploma level and be accredited with a recognised professional body or working towards accreditation as defined by the BACP or equivalent (UKCP, BPS). A good understanding of issues which impact on student wellbeing and the ability to demonstrate a commitment to inclusive practice are essential.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are part-time (21.75 hours). This role’s core hours are 09.00-17.15 with some evening work and occasional weekends required. Flexible working arrangements will be considered in line with the University of Nottingham’s Flexible Working Arrangements Policy. Staff in the wellbeing service are required to work on site for a minimum of 80% of their working week.
