Job summary This post is for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist for the Cardiothoracic unit, Cardiothoracic ward and General Critical Care unit at UHCW NHS Trust. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has experience working with critically unwell patients, as well as acute NHS ward based experience. The role primarily sits within the Cardiothoracic bed base, in-reaching into the General Critical Care unit as clinically required. This role is part of an expanding Occupational Therapy provision and will lead the development of the Occupational Therapy role within these areas. This roleincludes leading and developing the Occupational Therapy service, providing clinical supervision and training, liaising with other appropriate therapy teams to ensure an integrated service is provided for the service area. The post holder will provide a source of highly expert specialised skills and knowledge within Cardiothoracic care. As part of your induction, you will spend time with different teams within the therapy department and Cardiothoracic MDT to help orientate you. Main duties of the job Provide a highly specialist, high standard therapy service, assessing and advising on patients care & treatment, as an autonomous practitioner within the defined patient group. Lead the Therapy staff across the service area providing clinical supervision and training, liaising with other appropriate Therapy leads to ensure an integrated service is provided for the service area. Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training and annual appraisal. Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area. Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy service. Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.
