Our client is looking for additional support in category management to oversee the top 4 grocery retailers (with both current and new products). To achieve this, we need to support the retailers with a data-driven, category-led rationale. You will work closely with sales and NPD to develop a clear category strategy and drive an innovation agenda.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1. Establish a clear category strategy for the business to facilitate broader distribution growth in the customer base (covering recommended range lineup, distribution targets, price/pack architecture, promotional support, and competitor targets).
2. Establish relationships and coordinate the purchasing of relevant market data (e.g., Kantar, Nielsen, IRI, etc.).
3. Translate data into ongoing reporting for the management team to enable them to understand competitor and category performance in more detail.
4. Work directly with category managers at the top 4 retailers to input into their category strategy.
5. Support sales and marketing with contributions to retailer presentations and present directly to retailer buyers where required.
6. Support a range rationalization project with the objective of establishing a core range of products to drive business growth forward.
7. Support the NPD process via category trend analysis, sell-in presentation support, and recommending commercial targets for new products.
The Successful Applicant
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Strong track record at Category/Manager level.
2. Experience working in food.
3. Experience working directly with top 4 grocery retailers.
4. Self-starter with the ability to operate autonomously.
5. Ability to influence and advise internal and external senior stakeholders.
Must Have:
1. Full driving license & own car.
This is mostly an office-based role in Leeds with 4 days in the office.
