Senior Buyer - Jewellery We are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer to work based in Billericay, Essex on a full time, permanent basis. We also offer free parking if you drive to us Primary purpose: You are responsible for developing profitable and engaging product ranges of suitable breadth for our Partners. You will ensure your product ranges meet the individual needs of our hosts and deliver the freshest market opportunities capturing our customers imagination. Your decisions are based on the direction and strategy of both the business and our brands. Your decisions will develop the right product, at the right time, in line with the departmental design brief with our customers in mind to maximize revenue, profit and growth. Key responsibilities: Strategy Demonstrate expert multi-channel knowledge of the current competitive marketplace and put this into practice to drive revenue and growth. Drive and deliver the product strategy working collaboratively across all functions, regularly reviewing actions and deliverables. Lead all strategy meetings from a product point of view., Build and develop supplier strategy with Supply Chain team, engaging with the Buying & Sourcing Director to identify new sourcing requirements to deliver the product strategy. Regularly review each host market, closely monitoring competitor’s activity and trends within product area. Build relationships with host retailer, understanding their brand strategy, ensuring that is incorporated where applicable into own brand strategies. Contribute where necessary to and present seasonal financial and brand plans to Buying & Sourcing Director and Trading Director, as well as CFO as required in preparation for the Seasonal Range Review for the CEO and Board. Product and Range Building Develop and recommend commercial products in accordance with agreed buying objectives, ensuring that product meets overall strategic guidelines in terms of price and trend and category mix. Drive product development, leading all supplier calls, negotiations, trips, and product development. Work with design to ensure that hero products are on brand and in line with costing requirements whilst exciting the customer and drawing them to the stands. Ensure that all ranges achieve intake margin targets in line with agreed strategy, delivering effective negotiations and best possible pricing for DCK whilst maintaining product integrity. Create the brand critical path ensuring enough time at each stage, reviewing as necessary and updating the wider team of any changes to allow AB to manage delivery in line with the critical path. Ensure that wider buying team have stands and products correctly carded and displayed prior to sign off. Accountable for ensuring that brand product qualities are met at all stages of sampling, working with the Compliance team to ensure product is fit for purpose and making any amendments to products as required. Work collaboratively with the Global Head of Creative Vision / Graphic Designer to develop appropriate new packaging to best showcase products in a cost-effective way in line with critical path. Work collaboratively with design to deliver First Look meetings ensuring key company and host trends as well as key product categories or types are covered. Work with the Sustainability and Compliance Manager to deliver on your brands sustainability goals, delivering a clear and achievable strategy. Promote and drive a clear understanding of customer, ensuring segments and demographic needs are understood. Demonstrate strong negotiation skills and component knowledge to achieve and maintain target margin for our product through efficient product engineering, development, and sourcing. Demonstrate knowledge of product, materials, and supply base to ensure buying power is fully leveraged and products placed with appropriate suppliers. React to market conditions: highlight risk and propose changes to ensure margin targets and profit plans are delivered Approve product ensuring quality and aesthetic requirements are met ready for sign offs highlighting any products that are under margin or not the final approved sample during the sign off meeting Trading Work with the Merchandiser to drive trade for your brand, ensuring product opportunities are identified early, and managed effectively, maximizing sales and profit Be commercially aware of your competitors, using that knowledge to drive effective decision-making. Work with BOM to review store-based opportunities (visual delivery / store performance), working with the wider business to impact positive enhancements Lead Director trade meetings with Merchandising. Build relationships with host team to understand their trade / trading stances, ensuring communication is carried out in a timely manner. Leadership and Team Development Lead by example and exert and display behaviours aligned to DCK’s DNA values ensuring that you are setting the right culture within your teams. Continually review your structure to ensure it is fit for purpose and business needs. Ensure that the team has a clear framework in terms of ways of working utilizing your systems knowledge to support your teams and ensure workloads are realistic and achievable Provide leadership and direction to your team, promoting a collaborative working culture. Identify and develop talent within the team, benchmarking across departments Coach, nurture and develop your team whilst providing regular constructive, clear and transparent feedback on their performance in regular 1:1’s Responsible for developing your team, to succeed in their roles and see the ‘bigger picture’ preparing them for future roles, ensuring they have a robust PDP Delegating tasks and actions to support teams' personal development and stretch objectives. Skills and qualifications: You are a product expert, responsible for multiple, large, complex brands and/or high revenue/profile brands, demonstrating unique handwriting for each. You will manage a larger Buying Team and have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a Buyer within the Fashion/accessories industry. You will be able to demonstrate capability for strategic decisions and continually contributing and developing both the company and brands strategy, always exploring new opportunities and routes to market.
