Job summary
An opportunity for an Occupational Therapist has arisen at Hawkhurst community hospital. You will be working within a well established therapy team, comprising physiotherapists, occupational therapists, therapy assistants, students and apprentices. You will also be part of the wider MDT of nurses, HCAs, GP, dementia specialist and discharge coordinator.
Hawkhurst is a 22 bedded unit. There are patients with a wide range of problems including musculoskeletal, neurological, orthopaedic and complex co-morbidities, including complex social care patients. The caseload can be diverse.
You should be experienced, motivated and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You must be an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with post-graduate experience. The service responds to the rehabilitation needs of adults of all ages, therefore you will be required to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. You must be able to travel around the Trust in a timely manner.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist your role will be to:
To work as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing a high-quality service to adults who have a wide range of physical, medical and social issues
To be an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for own caseload working without direct supervision.
To assess, develop and implement evidence-based treatment programmes for these patients within their own homes, community hospitals and other community settings
To provide support, training and guidance to junior staff
To provide support and information to patients, families and all agencies involved in the patients' care

1. HCPC Registration
2. Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
Experience

3. Must have some qualified experience as this is a band 6 post
4. At least 2 years post-graduate clinical experience
5. Evidence of working with adults & older people in relation to physical rehabilitation

6. At least 1 year clinical experience within the NHS
Knowledge

7. Knowledge and experience working with complex moving and handling cases, and ability to identify equipment needs
8. Knowledge of advanced moving & handling techniques ( hoist assessment)
