Overview
We are seeking a contracts manager to oversee a variety of general civils and highways projects.
Evans Construction is a firmly established civil engineering contractor working with a number of Clients across Shropshire, Powys, Chester, and Cheshire West and Telford and Wrekin. We are a family-founded business that still operates with customer focus and the values we started with.
A busy and fast-paced environment involved in a range of civil engineering works, predominantly associated with local authorities including repairs and maintenance, bridges, embankments, drainage, etc.
The Role
As Contracts Manager, you will have overall responsibility for:
Project Management
* Management of projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards while promoting best practices and continuous improvement in the area of work.
* Coordination and planning of materials, labor, and plant for each project, ensuring optimal use of resources to meet project deadlines.
* Forward planning of works to remove peaks and troughs.
* Developing and maintaining key client relationships serving as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Commercial
* Monitor and control project costs, preparing and managing budgets, and ensuring projects are delivered within financial targets.
* Working closely with the QS to ensure the team maximizes financial returns on all aspects of the contract, taking steps to minimize risk, protect commercial interests, and maximize profit.
Health and Safety
* Writing health and safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments, ensuring that all sites have the appropriate documentation.
* Ensure all projects adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and ensuring a zero-harm culture is maintained.
* Lead and inspire Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture, performance, and compliance.
Leadership
* Lead and manage project teams, including site managers, sub-contractors, and other staff.
* Management of operational employees ensuring the continuous development of skills by understanding training needs analysis.
* Carry out site inspections and audits in line with company requirements.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have previous experience in a Framework / Contracts Management position. You will need to understand all aspects of the contracting process, and technical construction requirements, and good commercial acumen is essential.
* Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects.
* Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and best practices.
* Relevant qualification in civil engineering (BSc/HNC/HND).
* Civil Engineering experience is essential.
* Experience working in a civils maintenance framework environment.
* Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke forms of contract.
* Proficient IT Skills (e.g., MS Project).
