Domestic Abuse Family & Criminal Law Team Leader
Gloucester
Salary - £30,984.25 per annum (£750 car allowance)
Contract type - Fixed Term until June 2025
Working hours - Full Time 37 hours
About the role
Working for Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS - part of GreenSquareAccord), GDASS provides support to victims of domestic abuse (16+) living in Gloucestershire.
In addition to support services, GDASS also operate a helpline and manage the Places of Safety properties.
You will provide, specifically in a legal context, advice, information and practical assistance for victims of domestic abuse involved in Criminal and / or Family & Civil Proceedings who are acting as Litigants in Person (LiPs).
You will assist where appropriate, GDASS clients involved in criminal proceedings that give rise to associated Family & Civil Law proceedings.
You will attend court, in person or remotely, to represent and/or assist GDASS clients.
You will write and deliver specialist general and advanced training for LiPs going through the Family Court on a monthly rolling basis.

About you
You need to be recognised and Accredited Legal Training [eg Solicitor, Legal Executive or Senior Paralegal], and ongoing regulation in Family Law.
You must have a minimum of 2 years` experience of working within the civil and family courts.
You will need a minimum of 2 years` experience of working with victims of domestic abuse.
You need to have a minimum of 2 years` experience of working directly with customers in a challenging or potentially challenging environment.
You need to have experience working with and directing volunteers.
You should be able to prioritise workload, manage caseload and be able to make appropriate decisions.
You need to have strong, up to date, legal knowledge to enable fast and effective signposting and advice.
You will be required to maintain up to date and relevant case notes and database entries.
