As a Principal Hardware Engineer, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to formulate and optimise innovative hardware engineering solutions for products such as Helmet Mounted & Head Up Displays, Mission Computers, Flight Controls, Active Inceptors, and other associated safety-critical technology.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects as a member of a very experienced diverse team, with the view to progressing your career in this industry.
Your main responsibilities will involve:
1. Executing complex hardware design tasks in accordance with the hardware development plan, whilst meeting agreed timescales and allocated budgets.
2. Conducting hardware requirements capture, preliminary design, and detailed design including a range of analysis tasks.
3. Adopting an innovative approach to design and identifying improvements to working practices.
4. Providing technical guidance and support.
5. Coaching & developing the skills of junior team members.
6. Delivering design artefacts in accordance with company and industry standards.
7. Working with other disciplines within an integrated team.
Your skills and qualifications:
1. Degree/HND in electronics engineering or an equivalent qualification.
2. Proven working knowledge and experience of digital &/or analogue electronics technologies.
3. Experience of working through the engineering development lifecycle, from concept to product certification.
4. Capable of providing robust engineering judgement in all phases of the engineering development lifecycle.
5. Robust understanding of product design and work package control.
6. Working knowledge of the following tools would be advantageous:
7. Mentor Graphics Expedition Enterprise.
8. Analogue simulations tools, e.g. Simetrix or Spice.
9. Signal integrity tools and principles.
10. System development tools, e.g. Enterprise Architect, Matlab, Simulink.
11. Requirements management tools, e.g. DOORS.
