This is a unique opportunity to lead, develop, and curate a blossoming Wedding, Events and Arts/Social club located in a historic building in the heart of Exeter. We have a tight, dedicated, and passionate team with an outstanding record of community and private events.
After a successful year, The Hall is now seeking an energetic and creative Operations and Events Manager with a passion for sales, creativity, and leadership.
The ideal candidate will oversee daily operations including weddings and take a leading role in developing and executing a dynamic, self-generated events calendar that drives business growth. This role requires a proactive leader with strong business acumen, capable of managing P&L responsibilities, payroll, and shift management, while also creating unique, high-impact events that enhance customer engagement and generate revenue. A focus on innovation, creativity, and maximizing customer experiences is key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
1. To Oversee Healthy Growth: The Hall has recently been awarded a Wedding license, enabling it to increase turnover dramatically. Our goal is to be the best wedding venue in Exeter. You will be responsible for maximizing this growth without affecting The Hall's soul and reputation.
2. P&L Responsibility:
o Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve financial targets and maximize profitability.
o Analyze financial reports, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost-control measures.
o Monitor expenses, revenue, and budget adherence to ensure financial objectives are met.
3. Payroll and Shift Management:
o Oversee the staffing process, including recruitment, training, and scheduling.
o Implement effective shift management strategies to optimize labor efficiency and maintain excellent customer service.
4. Gross Profit Management:
o Implement pricing strategies to maximize gross profit margins while remaining competitive in the market.
o Monitor inventory levels, control costs, and implement effective stock management procedures.
o Collaborate with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms to enhance profitability.
5. Operational Leadership:
o Provide hands-on leadership in all aspects of daily operations, ensuring a seamless and positive customer experience.
o Foster a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability among staff members.
o Address operational challenges promptly and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
6. Customer Service Excellence:
o Uphold and enhance The Hall's reputation for exceptional customer service.
o Regularly interact with guests, gather feedback, and implement improvements to meet or exceed customer expectations.
7. Event Management & Sales:
o Create a profitable calendar of own-generated events, maximizing quieter and shoulder periods in the calendar.
o Work with owners to ensure that the outward-bound marketing is aligned with the availability calendar and planned own-generated events.

The successful candidate will be in a position to dedicate themselves to Friday and Saturday evening and daytime shifts as needed. In the long term, it is presumed the new manager will recruit, train, and rota staff to adjust their own shift patterns to suit their lifestyle.
