Field Service Engineer UK & IR
About the role
The Field Service Engineer ("Flying Doctor") will be responsible for the on-site technical support to the Lotus After-Sales Network in UK and Ireland.
Working with both petrol engines (ICE) and battery electric vehicles (BEV), responsibilities include mechanical and electrical diagnostic support to authorised technicians, completing root cause analysis and reporting on difficult cases and emerging trends, support urgent - critical cases, escalations from customers.
This role holder will integrate with the European Technical Team by following the global technical support processes.
Key responsibilities:
1. Provide technical support to the Lotus AS Network.
2. Provide technical assistance in case of critical diagnosis in field and report them to the head quarter.
3. Share the diagnosis information and give feedback to the Quality department to improve the product.
4. Support the technical field service organization as well as the technical support departments in the elimination of complex product defects on vehicles, units and components.
5. Support Customer Care teams in the resolution of customer issues within the network.
6. Periodic reporting and analysing statistic data on technical issues coming from the network.
7. Analysis and evaluation of incoming complaints.
8. Independent decision-making about necessary measures to address the complaints.
9. Implementation of technical solutions in workshop-oriented instructions.
Key stakeholders
1. 1st Level of technical Support, centralising the requests.
2. Technical Manager HQ, defining the priorities.
3. Regional Aftersales Manager, escalating customers complaints.
4. Network of Authorized repairers, providing technical support and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
1. Degree in Engineering or equivalent specializing in vehicle technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering with a focus on drives or master craftsman/workshop manager/master technician.
2. Automotive background in a similar job for an OEM.
3. Technical EV know-how.
4. Qualified technician for HV system in motor vehicles valid for UK and Ireland.
5. Extensive knowledge of total vehicle systems including powertrain, electrical and diagnostics.
6. Excellent knowledge of diagnosis tools.
7. Class B driving license.
8. 100% willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
9. Must be fluent speaking English at a technical level.
10. Extremely organised, ability to work with parallel workstreams, and manage pressure.
11. Ability to work with different departments and characters, outstanding communication skills.
12. Result driven.
13. Confident in working with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
Desirable
1. Additional knowledge of European languages will be considered as a plus.
2. Experience working in an automotive aftersales workshop environment.
Other Factors
1. Must be prepared to travel frequently at short notice, making own arrangements within financial policy limits.
2. Must hold a full, clean driving licence.
