Become a Senior Specialist Dietitian at UHBW where you will play a crucial role in leading, developing and delivering high-quality nutritional care to patients within the Stroke rehabilitation and medicine pathways at Weston General Hospital (WGH) alongside taking a Trust wide lead on education facilitation within dietetics.
The Weston dietetic department is a friendly team of 18 dietitians and support workers, based at Weston General Hospital (WGH) in the beautiful coastal town of Weston-super-Mare. We are part of the wider UHBW Nutrition and Dietetic Service based at Bristol Royal Infirmary and sit within UHBW's Adult Therapy Services.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic and dynamic individual with excellent team-working, communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will embrace challenges and be committed to delivering excellent patient care and leading on education to support the development of the future dietetic workforce.
This is an exciting opportunity to build on specialist clinical knowledge providing a range of nutritional interventions to a highly complex cohort of patients, alongside leadership and service development skills within stroke rehabilitation and general medicine pathways.
Additionally, this post provides a unique opportunity to lead on education facilitation for pre-registration and apprenticeship placements, WEX, and the preceptorship programme. Education facilitation is envisaged to account for approximately 1 day per week of this post.
As a senior member of the dietetic team, you shall have line management responsibilities and work in collaboration with the other band 7 post holders to provide day-to-day leadership of the team. You will support junior staff to develop their knowledge and clinical skills in the management of patients within stroke rehabilitation and medicine pathways.
You will work across the 4 pillars of practice to achieve the shared objectives of the Nutrition and Dietetic Service and the wider Adult Therapy Service.

Job responsibilities
Our growing service at Weston has innovative food policy and front door teams and dietetic support workers underpinning the wider acute team in the management of our 270 bedded hospital. We work within a range of areas, including gastroenterology, surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, general medicine, stroke, respiratory, endocrinology and cardiology, care of the elderly, medically fit for discharge, and a 5 bedded Critical Care Unit.

Person Specification
Qualifications and training
* HCPC registration (E)
* Degree/postgraduate qualification in nutrition and dietetics (E)
* Evidence of extensive postgraduate training relevant to post (E)
* Clinical supervisory skills course (E)
* Postgraduate diploma/MSc or equivalent evidence of advanced dietetic practice (E)
* Teaching qualification or significant equivalent experience (E)
* PENG Group Clinical Update Course and/or Behaviour Change Course (E)
* BDA membership (D)
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant clinical experience in: Nutritional Support/Therapy in the relevant pathways of care i.e., stroke, care of the elderly (E)
* Working as part of a multi-professional team (E)
* Experience of management of teaching & learning and education of pre-registration students & apprentices (E)
* Experience of audit and/or quality assurance (E)
* Experience of managing/supervising junior staff (E)
* Experience of delivering preceptorship & WEX programs (E)
