Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Psychological Therapist (Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists/Systemic Psychotherapists) within our CAMHS North multidisciplinary team, delivering a high quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people and their families.
The post holder will be able to progress from Band 7 to band 8a once they demonstrate that they meet the competencies specified for Band 8a level.
CAMHS North is a caring, supportive and hard working team which prides itself on working creatively, innovatively and inclusively. We have a number of ongoing projects including working in partnership with young people to re design our clinic room spaces, working to better meet the needs of young people with neurodiversity who are accessing our service, and the development of the intervention offer for families of our young people.
Members of the team won the HPFT 2022 and 2023 staff awards for "inclusion and diversity" and the team have previously won awards for customer service and working in partnership with our adult services counterparts to improve transitions to adult services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of complex assessment, treatment and consultation work with children and their families/carers/networks who have mental health issues. They will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing interventions in line with the principles and practice of CYP-IAPT. They will work in ways which are sensitive to and appropriate for the needs of families from a wide range of racial, cultural and religious backgrounds. They will undertake risk assessment and risk management for all children and adolescents, including the protective and risk factors in the network of significant relationships.
They will act as care coordinator, where appropriate, ensuring provision of a care plan, taking responsibility for initiating, planning and review of the client's care, ensuring the work of others involved and communicating effectively with the child/ the carer/professional as appropriate, monitoring the progress of multi-disciplinary interventions.
They will work in a leadership position within the multidisciplinary team.

To deliver a high quality service working with, adolescents and their families/carers and to professionals from other organisations to ensure practices that respond effectively to both individual and service post holder will be autonomously responsible for assessing and delivering intervention to children, young people and families in relation to a range of highly complex emotional, psychological and behavioural problems within the context of CAPA (The Choice and Partnership Approach) and CYP-IAPT.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/TRAINING
Essential
1. Post-graduate doctorate in clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a Counselling Psychologist
2. At least two years full-time postregistration experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with clients with a range of psychological needs of a complex nature
3. Full registration with Health Professions Council under the Clinical or Counselling modality
4. Chartered status with the British Psychological Society
5. Related academic qualifications to master's or doctorate level
6. Experience of independent administration and interpretation in cognitive assessment
7. Training in supervision of clinical / counselling psychologists
8. Experience of research, service development and audit- OR o Post-graduate family therapy training to MSc levelor equivalent
9. UKCP registration as family therapist
10. Post-qualification training in teaching and supervision of child family therapy
11. Qualification in core mental health or social welfare profession ( social work, mental healthnursing, psychology, occupational therapy) and significant post qualification experience - OR o Honours degree
12. Postgraduate Diploma/ MA in Psychoanalytic
13. Observational Studies or recognised equivalent.
14. Minimum master's level in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy: Child and Adolescent.
15. Registered member of ACP
16. Psychoanalytic Parent-Infant work experience or Qualification Specialist Parent- Infant Mental Health training
Desirable
17. Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice including CBT.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Essential
21. Assessed experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children/adolescents with a wide range of presentations of varying severity
22. Typically, this would involve a minimum of 2 years at specialist level, or its equivalent demonstrated through CV and interview.
23. Experience of working with moderate to severe mental health problems with a wide range of client groups across the whole life course with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
24. Demonstrate further specialist clinical experience and training within Child and Adolescent Mental Health, through a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a clinical / counselling psychologist over a minimum of 18 months, or an agreed alternative.
25. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for client's psychological care and treatment both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
26. Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision, including supervision of clinical/counselling psychology trainee(s)
27. Experience working within a multi- disciplinary team and inter-agency collaboration.
28. Doctoral level knowledge of clinical/counselling psychology including highly developed knowledge of developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, child and adolescent mental health and a range of therapeutic models.
29. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management with clients with complex problems, including specialised psychological interventions for difficult to treat groups (eg multiple mental health and/or physical health problems) Ability to demonstrate an area of special interest/skill and experience in an evidence based therapeutic intervention.
