The Role
The Practice Education Facilitator roles are designed to influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development activities for mentors/preceptors/practice supervisors/practice assessors and students within HNC, pre-registration and post-registration education programmes. The role aims to enhance the quality of the practice learning experience and positively contribute to the future nursing/midwifery workforce. By enhancing the quality of the learning environment, the education and training needs of health care assistants and of the full range of professional groups may be addressed.
1. Maximise the number of student nurses and midwives who can be supported within clinical practice areas
2. Enhance and support the role of the mentor/preceptor/practice supervisor/practice assessor
3. Ensure that the student experience is of the highest quality and enables the greatest benefit from the individual clinical learning experience
4. Ensure support and supervision for staff engaging in Continuing Professional Development/Educational programmes which ultimately lead to practice development and improved services for patients & clients

What we'll need you to bring
Registered Nurse/Midwife with valid NMC registration
Educated to/working towards/operating at degree level
Post graduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/ area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality/ area of practice.
Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
Further education/evidence of continuous professional development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification and be able to provide evidence of mentorship experience or evidence to demonstrate the post holder has contributed to enhancing the practice learning environment and student supervision and assessment.
The post holder will possess excellent team working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
Effective listening communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective time management skills
Working knowledge of basic information technology

Completed a recognised mentorship preparation programme
Evidence of leadership development
Working towards a higher degree
Post registration experience within a clinical environment inclusive of educational supervision experience
Provide practical examples of implementing evidence based care
Provides practical examples of innovation in implementing theory/practice
Demonstrates awareness of recent changes in nursing/midwifery education
Evidence of participation in management or promotion of the learning environment
Evidence of participation in audit
Evidence of participation in research
Evidence of additional study in nurse/midwife education

This role will be based in University Hospital Monklands.
