Graduate Assistant – Sport (Football specialist)
Required: September 2025
Closing Date: Thursday 1st May 2025
Interviews: Wednesday 7th May 2025
Contract: One-year full-time (plus subsidised staff accommodation for those relocating)
Brentwood Senior School is an academically selective HMC co-educational independent school with small class sizes and a happy, ambitious and supportive staff team. It is part of Brentwood School, a 3-18 HMC school of 1900 pupils, just 35 minutes from London Liverpool Street.
We are seeking a passionate and committed Graduate Assistant with a specialism in football to join our dynamic Sports Department for a one-year full-time, term-time (plus 4 weeks in school holidays) contract. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals considering a future in teaching or coaching, offering a high-quality, supportive environment to develop professional and pedagogical skills. Graduate Assistants play a key role in our vibrant Co-Curricular Sports Programme, contributing to fixtures, training sessions, and mentoring students across both the Senior and Prep Schools.
The successful candidate will support the Head of Football in the daily running of the football programme, helping to plan and deliver Games lessons and training, as well as assist with the administration of a robust fixture schedule. We are particularly interested in applicants with significant playing and coaching experience, and those who have knowledge of video analysis software. The ability to contribute to our summer sports offering (athletics, cricket, or tennis) would be an advantage.
Beyond coaching, Graduate Assistants are assigned a tutor group alongside the main tutor in order to develop their pastoral skills and a holistic view of education, contributing to House activities. Brentwood School offers an ambitious and progressive sporting environment, committed to providing high-quality experiences and fostering lifelong engagement with sport. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across a 3–18 age range in a nationally recognised sporting institution.
Brentwood School has its own pay scale that is significantly above the maintained sector and we also have a range of subsidised staff accommodation that may be available for the successful applicant should they need to relocate.
Applications can be submitted through the TES website. The School reserves the right to change these dates, and to close the vacancy at any time.
Brentwood School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
