We are currently working with an iconic steel production and engineering company, a global leader in designing, manufacturing, and delivering world-class Steel forgings and castings .
The business is in an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence in 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work, our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for business and our colleagues.
Based on a 64-acre site in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Maintenance Engineer. This role will involve carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment in the Work Rolls business unit and support with breakdowns as they occur.
Role Responsibilities
* Maintain all plant and equipment within the Work Rolls Business Unit.
* Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance inspections and complete follow-up actions and issues of concern.
* Address equipment and facility breakdowns and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
* Support new project implementation and equipment installation.
* Conduct equipment condition appraisals, refurbishment, and continuous improvement activities.
* Complete and maintain accurate, timely documentation, records, and reporting.
* Work closely with the Engineering & Maintenance supervisor to plan maintenance work within the department.
* Contribute to and drive a continuous improvement culture within the department.
About You
The following relevant skills, knowledge, and experience are required:
* Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Maintenance qualification.
* Multi-skilled maintenance qualification is an advantage.
* Experience in a heavy engineering / manufacturing environment.
* Experience with PLC fault-finding, DC Motor controls, and 3 phase electrical equipment.
* In-depth knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
* Strong engineering knowledge rooted in maintenance principles and failure prevention.
* The ability to plan effectively for both projects and maintenance.
Days/Hours of Work
Mornings: Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 2:30pm, Friday 6:00am - 12:00 noon.
Nights: 8:00pm - 6:00am Mon - Thu.
