Job Description:
The 153rd Open is back this year to Northern Ireland for the 3rd time in the beautiful surroundings of Royal Portrush.
If you have a passion for hospitality, thrive on working in a fast-paced environment, and would like to be a part of the UK's most prestigious sporting event of the year, then you are in the right place, and we would be delighted to have you as part of #TeamPortrush.
Let's show the world how amazing Northern Ireland hospitality is!
Roles Available:
1. Front of House Team: (£12.21 p/h) – Bar, Mixologist, Wine, Plate & Barista
2. Front of House Team Leaders: (£14.18 p/h)
3. Back of House Team: (£12.21 p/h) – Kitchen Porter, Keg Changers, Stock Rotation & Kitchen Assistants
Team members must be available to work all 7 days from Monday the 14th - Sunday the 20th of July 2025.
Types of Service: The Open caters for many different types of hospitality, from busy retail bars along the course to entry-level hospitality to high-end fine dining and everything in between: Street Food, Buffets, Afternoon Teas, Take Away options, 4-course plated menus, and much more. This allows opportunities for everyone to find a home where they can thrive and feel confident and comfortable working, no matter their experience level in the industry.
What Happens Next: Applications shall be reviewed from March. An informal telephone chat will occur from March for anyone who does not attach a CV or has less than 2 years of hospitality experience to understand your experience better and get to know you a little. (Not all positions need previous experience; having the right attitude, personality, and character is what is most important as we will provide full training per event and ensure that you have all the skills and information you need to succeed at The Open.)
Invite to Assessment Days - These dates are on the 11th, 17th & 18th of May 2025 from either 9am-1pm or 1:30pm-5:30pm. Within these 4-hour sessions, you will receive a mini induction of the event itself, Absolute Taste as a company, The R&A, and all the information you need on MAPAL training, Pay rates, Pay Days, Uniform, Checking In & Out, Security on event, Accreditation, Right To Work, and a breakdown of all our different areas within Retail & Hospitality and the differences in services between each area.
Full training on Plate service, Bar service, and Wine service will be provided. This is also a great opportunity to meet new people who are also working the event and ask lots of questions.
Online MAPAL Training: This covers Allergens, Food Safety Level 2, Health & Safety Level 2, and more. This must be completed by the 1st of June to work The Open. There is also a 2-hour payment made in your payslip post-event for the time spent completing these modules.
On-Site Training & Briefing Day: Your first shift will be in your area of work without any guests (6 hours for Hospitality & 4 hours for Retail) where your Manager, Supervisor, or Lead Chef will go through your area in great detail, covering menus, training, standards of service, and where everything is in the back of house.
I look forward to receiving your application and starting your journey with #TeamPortrush. Absolute Taste is committed to being an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will receive consideration for employment regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other legally protected characteristics.
