About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Infrastructure Engineer to join our team in Reading, UK. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will play a critical role in the successful execution of a major UK nuclear infrastructure programme.
With your extensive experience in civil/structural engineering and a strong background in EPC/EPCM design, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating conceptual and detailed phases of engineering work, ensuring that all activities meet company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
You will have a working knowledge of Tekla structural design software and related non-reactor nuclear codes, standards, best practice, and hazardous confinement systems. Your expertise in front-end design and equipment selection for nuclear facilities will be valuable assets to our team.
In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design requirements and status across the project and to customers, vendors, construction, and other organizations.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate conceptual and detailed phases of engineering work, ensuring compliance with company, contract, and industry codes and standards.
* Apply engineering principles for the analysis and design of structures, systems, and components, influencing the outcome of technical issue resolution within the discipline/function, as well as with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators).
* Conduct extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials, and applications of 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) to resolve engineering problems.
* Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
* Participate in interdisciplinary and cross-functional reviews of documents and deliverables, ensuring the design is cost-effective and meets applicable safety, health, environmental regulations, customer requirements, and engineering codes & standards.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university or college.
* Extensive and relevant EPC/EPCM design experience on major infrastructure projects.
* Working knowledge of engineering procedures, covering discipline deliverable production & control.
* Strong knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, engineering processes, and design criteria.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Able to obtain a SC Clearance for access to the site.
The salary for this position is estimated at £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
