Role summary: The Senior Operations Manager role reports to the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring that depot service level targets are achieved and delivery costs controlled in line with budget. Transport compliance, H&S and Legal legislation are in line with personal operator's licence and maintains and controls at all times. Key responsibilities Ensuring company service levels are exceeded at all times. Introduce and execute productivity improvement; promoting increased efficiencies and service and quality performance in the operation. Manages the efficient day to day processing and delivery of freight through the effective management of the operational team. Ensures risk is effectively managed through compliance with all company policies. Monitors and reviews operational performance and takes timely action to address any issues. Manages the operation to meet required levels of productivity and ensure regulatory compliance. In conjunction with the General Manager identify, plan and implement improvements to operational efficiency. Close management of sub-contractors to ensure an effective and efficient service is provided in line with budgeted cost. Actively support the growth of service centres by working constructively with the sales manager to bring in and operate new business in line with service levels and budgeted costs. Work constructively and supportively with 'internal customers' at other depots, hubs and customer care teams. Ensure that the necessary people, equipment, processes and support are in place to enable the delivery of all depot targets. Recruit effective individuals to depot roles. Monitor and review individual performance and provide training and support as necessary. Complete regular performance reviews and be able to take action where there is persistent underperformance. Provides regular communication and team briefings, listening to and acting on feedback and encourages the contribution of ideas and initiatives. Recognise and reward individuals for exceptional performance.
