The role
Croydon High School is looking for an outstanding and dynamic teacher to lead our thriving Physics department on a fixed-term basis.
As Head of Physics (Maternity Cover), you will play a pivotal role in the leadership and management of the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively, and the curriculum is managed and developed in accordance with school policy.
You will also be instrumental in the delivery of our bespoke Science curriculum, whilst also contributing to the department's outstanding record of academic achievement and co-curricular success. In addition to your departmental responsibilities, you will prepare and deliver stimulating and engaging Physics lessons that promote excellence in teaching and learning.
You will be a capable and well-qualified teacher, who possesses previous experience of teaching Physics. The ability to teach Physics up to A Level, will also be essential.

The Physics Department
Our Physics Department consists of four full-time specialist teachers, supported by a dedicated science technician. With a strong track record of achievement at both GCSE and A Level, the department is committed to delivering an engaging and rigorous curriculum that inspires a passion for Physics. Beyond the classroom, we offer a range of co-curricular opportunities, including the popular Astrogazers Club and a GCSE in Astronomy, which keen students complete by the end of Year 10.
