About the role: The Site Manager role encompasses management of two strategic tollgate locations: Solventis Gunness and Brenntag Scunthorpe sites. To integrate sites under a single management structure, harmonising interaction and processes, and the creation of synergies and efficiencies. To further develop a safe, service-driven, high-profit, and cost-efficient centre of excellence. To lead the development, influence, and promotion of a positive HSSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) culture. To support and implement the Brenntag QHSSE strategy, aligning with the organization’s Global Process Safety and Occupational Safety policies and procedures, campaigns and initiatives. To ensure major accident hazard (MAH) risks are controlled to ALARP. To ensure all staff are sufficiently trained and competent for their duties and apply performance management processes when, where and if applicable. As a Site Manager for our Sites Solventis Gunness & Brenntag Scunthorpe, it will be your responsibility to: Ensure full compliance with Brenntag UK & Ireland’s key policies and procedures, including effective safety reporting against performance metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Implement safety policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements plus evaluation of effectiveness of safety programs and implementation. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, reporting leading investigations to determine root causes and develop preventive measures. Liaise with regulatory bodies and participate in safety-related audits and inspections including validation of corrective actions from audits (develop the 100yr fix). Engage with forums and competent authorities to complement (Fire Service EA, HSE) in reviews versus regulation compliance and other applicable standards. Manage major accident hazard identification and risk assessment processes such as HAZID, HIRA, HAZOP, LOPA, DSEAR, OBRA, Human Factors Assessments. Review / Update Sites Risk Assessments i.e. Workplace Transport, Fire, Manual Handling, COSHH, Noise, New Product Initial Assessments. Review and manage the Management of Change (MOC) process, including identification and submission across both sites. Contractor Management: Manage the Sites Induction processes to ensure all visitors, contractors, and hauliers are correctly supervised including actively monitoring contractor works and permit issuance. Engage with staff at all levels to promote a strong safety culture, participate in site safety meetings, and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Manage QHSSE competency within sites, developing competency building plans, annual goals, and objectives. Attend relevant audits (ISO, BRC, Customer) and provide necessary support for actions arising. Participate in depot QM reviews and support internal quality system audits, ensuring prompt closure of actions from internal audits. Your skills & experience: Experience in the chemical or related industry – demonstrable experience within a COMAH/SEVESO site, with practical knowledge of chemical industry legislation is highly desirable. Knowledge of DSEAR regulations imperative, ideally experience in working within a Flammable Bulk Liquids Terminal. Experience of managing highly regulated operations with direct interaction / relationship & audit management with applicable authorities particularly the HSE & EA. Extensive knowledge of Process Safety and Process Safety Management Systems. Multi-site management experience is advantageous. Strong Leadership background with appropriate level of experience, demonstrable success in combining teams, resource planning, creation of efficiencies. Proven ability to manage budgets effectively and demonstrate strong cost-control ethics through site efficiency and personal effectiveness. Working knowledge of both new and legacy IT systems, including bespoke ERP, transport planning, and Microsoft Office. Familiar with ISO quality processes, process safety, management systems, food safety standards. Strong leadership qualities; honest, trustworthy, caring, approachable, direct etc. Comfortable working autonomously & confident to engage support where needed.
