We’ve recently undertaken a full workforce change across the Data Protection Office service and are seeking strong, visible, and competent leaders who can coach a team of staff to achieve shared service-wide objectives.
The post holder will be an experienced leader and specialist in data protection, security, confidentiality, line management, service delivery, and records management. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Data Protection Office/service.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead and promote data protection and security awareness, providing advice and guidance to the Trust in relation to compliance with Data Protection Legislation.
2. Provide Information Governance support for commercial, informatics, and research projects.
3. Provide first-line support for all data protection and security enquiries.
4. Work with managers and directors to identify new working practices and support the change programme.
5. Ensure Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of self and supervisees.
6. Provide expert advice on relevant Information Security/Cyber Security frameworks.
7. Mix of on-site and home working to suit the needs of our service.

Training & Qualifications
* Significant post-graduate level education or considerable experience in Data Protection & Security.
* Experience and knowledge in Data Protection & Security and legislation interpretation in a large public-facing organisation.
* Relevant Data Protection, Cyber Security, and IT qualifications.
* Experience with Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
* Understanding of the Data Protection Act/UK GDPR, Freedom of Information, and Access to Health Records Legislation.
* Willingness to participate in relevant training.
* Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant areas.
* Educated to a master level with a degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Experience of staff management including PDP, recruitment, disciplinary, and capability.
* Supervisory/Line Management skills.
* In-depth knowledge and experience in the Health and Social Care sector related to NHS Information Governance.
* Expert knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant legislation.
* Knowledge of Data Protection & Security/Cyber Security Frameworks.
* Experience in supporting and completing Contracts, SLAs, and Information Sharing Agreements.
* Experience of delivering presentations to diverse groups.
