Our client has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins, and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide.
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned, predictive, and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure optimum efficiency of all machinery and plant requirements are met. This includes involvement in all mechanical activities on a day-to-day basis, current projects, and future projects.
Key activities and responsibilities of a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
* Perform planned, predictive, and reactive mechanical maintenance in a timely manner, whilst adhering to safe working procedures.
* Attend breakdowns, fault find, and conduct rectifications of faults.
* Perform preventative maintenance inspections (PM), diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components including pumps, centrifuges, screw conveyors, gearboxes, milling equipment, pulleys, shafts, bearings, and belts.
* Perform Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) and greasing schedules.
* Be involved in the testing, improvement, and maintenance of manufacturing processes and infrastructure.
* Work in conjunction with contractors/vendor service teams when more specialised skills are required.
* Support the implementation of a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) for all repairs, servicing, and modifications to equipment.
* Work towards a zero-breakdown and zero-stop mentality.
Skills & Knowledge
* Apprentice trained or relevant mechanical engineering qualifications, with the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role.
* Ability to work unsupervised when tasked to do so, and to organise the work of others, where relevant, in response to the site needs.
* Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities, whilst working to high standards and time constraints.
* Positive and proactive problem solver.
* Ability to be on call out of hours on a rota system.
