Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital to lead the establishment and delivery of the Lung Cancer Screening Service (previously Targeted Lung Health Check Programme) as Programme Manager.
The Programme Manager role will lead the establishment and have operational oversight of the flow of patients through the lung cancer screening program, and operationally support processes for any required onward referrals as recommended by the screening review meeting and lung nodule MDT.
Travel across the Trust footprint and wider region may be required to support patients and staff at screening locations.
Main duties of the job
The Programme Manager will work closely with the Clinical Lead and Lead Nurse Assessor to develop the infrastructure, policies and procedures required to establish the service. The role will then lead the service from an operational perspective, as outlined in the national protocol.
The Programme Manager alongside the Lead Nurse Assessor is responsible for overseeing the flow of patients through the screening program, supporting patients, and managing administrative staff members. The role involves internal and external stakeholder management, supporting between primary and secondary care, and close operational liaison with internal care groups and other system screening programs.
This role will work closely with the cancer alliance and NHSE to implement changes as the program moves to a national screening service.
