Role: Senior Finance Assistant Salary: £25,000 - £28,500 based on qualifications and experience Contract type: Permanent Working hours: Full Time (37.5 hrs pw) Location: Remote with a base location of Greater Manchester (M1). We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Finance Assistant to support our Finance departments objectives within strict deadlines. Proficient in Sage, Microsoft Office, and other relevant systems, you will handle payroll processes, including collating timesheets, processing expenses, and maintaining salary journals, alongside balance sheet reconciliations, bank and cash account management, and month-end reporting. Additional responsibilities include managing petty cash, resolving financial queries, performing general accounting duties, and ensuring accurate accounts while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with financial controls. What youll do Reconcile monthly balance sheet control accounts and produce key account reports Conduct daily bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies promptly, and prepare monthly cash flow analysis Oversee petty cash management, including weekly reconciliations, auditing submissions, and issuing floats Assist with payroll by collating timesheets, processing expenses, and maintaining accurate salary journals Support month-end reporting through journal preparation and ensuring accurate financial representation Handle purchase and sales ledger processes, supplier queries, and credit postings Collaborate with departments and managers to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to financial controls and company procedures. What youll need Level 2 English and Maths as a minimum A Level or equivalent, AAT qualification, or equivalent professional accounting qualification 12 18 months experience of working in a finance department, with general finance ledger duties Working knowledge of Sage accounting packages 5 years plus experience in a finance role is desirable Extensive knowledge of financial monitoring Ability to liaise diplomatically at senior management level Ability to liaise diplomatically with external organisations.
